Love Lee Marvin. Love Robert Shaw. Love Mike Conners. Linda Evans looks great. But none of them should have done this horrible mishmash of a movie. Shaw plays a Russian defector who Marvin and company have to try and get safely to the west...though they are already in the west. The idea is to expose the Soviet assets as they try and take out Shaw I guess. There's a lot of talk, a purposeless Maximillian Schell disguise and lots of shooting, but the end result is a stupefying bore that makes little sense and has less drama. Much has been made of the fact that Shaw has been dubbed. But the copy I saw had EVERYONE dubbed and laughably out of sync. Mouths moving and no sound coming out. Voices being heard from people with mouths as closed as Edgar Bergen. perhaps with Robson and Shaw dead nobody cared anymore to at least get the basics right. Cut your losses and just release it as is. Bad.
