Review of The Nines

The Nines (2007)
3/10
Excellent acting in a terribly listless plot

I gave 3 stars because the actors did an exceptional job with a tedious story that could only be interesting to the writer. It meanders and lags often and leaves you with only an expressionless "huh". It feels insulting that the writer and directors respect their audience so little they don't even try to engage them. As much as I respect the work that goes into any production, The Nines disappoints on so many levels: transitions, interest, a point; it makes the viewer feel like you are grasping for any semblance of a point to hold on to to make it through the movie. My only question post viewing is how in the world did this get past script reviews and the almost insurmountable approval process to actually get produced with amazing actors? Statistically speaking this film is an anomaly for which I should have given one extra star.
