Sooraj Barjatya is well-known for directing family dramas with blends of comedy and romance. His films were considered legends because apart from all the films containing violence and blood, SB changed the trend of dealing with family issues which is why he directed Maine Pyar Kiya and HAHK.

Now onto Hum Saath Saath Hain. SB comes back directing family films with this one and well lets just start with the synopsis.

Ram-kishen (Alok Nath) along with Mamta (Reema Lagoo) have 3 sons Vivek (Mohnish Behl), Prem (Salman Khan) and Vinod (Saif Ali Khan) and a daughter Sangeeta (Neelam Kothari) who loves not just their parents but the entire family. During the movie, Vivek marries Sadhana (Tabu), Prem gets engaged to Preeti (Sonali Bendre), and Vinod gets engaged to Sapna (Karishma Kapoor). Ramkishen appoints Vivek as Managing Director of his factory in which causes rifts and conflicts to the entire family. Mamta is taken to confidence by her friends to separate the brothers which angers Ramkishen, Sadhana overhears this and Vivek decides to go to Rampur and make Prem the managing director. Prem however is unhappy with the new decision and vows not to marry unless Vivek and Sadhana return home.

Actually there is a lot more plot holes and story twists in the film which is more to explain in which cannot be explained more. Barjatya keeps adding more twists in the film which are great but not able to draw away from the flaws of the film.

Now onto the performances. Alok Nath and Reema are okay as the parents. out of the female leads in the film, Karishma kapoor overshadows them with her experience of comedy. Salman khan is okay. Saif Ali Khan impresses with his flair of comedy as his chemistry with Kapoor is the best part of the movie. However, the scene-stealer of the film is Mohnish Behl as he delivers one of his best yet restraining performances. Rest of the cast were great especially seeing Shakti Kapoor back with his comedic talent.

Music was okay. "Mhare Hidhwa" is the best song of the film.

This movie is flawed because of the screenplay and dialogues. The lead actors barely even say anything. Why would they? There are too many actors in the film. Take some members out and the movie would be much better

HSSH would be a better film without too many actors and more dialogues for the leads. Overall if you're looking for a movie without violence, sex, gore, blood and guns, then this movie is perfect for you.
