Gong and Dong

Carol Connors returns as the ditsy, goofy blond with two big assets walking down the Hollywood walk of fame while the soundtrack rips off the Bee Gees 'Stayin Alive.'

Written and directed by Gail Palmer, one of the few female directors working in the porn business in the 1970s and 80s it is a fluffy sex comedy that parodies those young vacuous women who come to Hollywood seeking fame and fortune.

On the corner of Hollywood and Vine she meets sleazy Johnny Dooropener (John Leslie) who promises to make her a star and then promptly hypnotises her to suck him off by making her think she is licking ice cream.

Dooropener get Candy a gig as a singing act in The Dong Show hosted by Chuck Bareass where we also get a glimpse of the ping pong ball routine from another contestant (Wendy O. Williams.) Candy wins the show and Bareass gives her his prize from behind the curtain.

Dooropener keeps her money and continues to open doors such as a encounter with talk show host Johnny Farson and then a private audition with a Hollywood producer and all the time Candy always gives willingly as she is routinely told of traditional ways of greeting each other in Hollywood.

It all ends with a big orgy popular in sex films of the period, featuring a Sly Stallone and Farrah Fawcett lookalike and Dooropener gets his comeuppance for being a sleazeball and Candy realises she is not up to the cut and thrust of Hollywood.

John Leslie who with Jamie Gillies was one of the stronger actors in the golden age of porn is just having a great time as Dooropener by showing off his acting and comedy skills. Connors is adorable and bubbly as Candy and although it is hard core porn it has a silliness with its comedic parody of the entertainment business.
