Style and effects over substance

Warning: Spoilers
"Razor Sharp" is a 25-minute live action short film from the United States in the English language. The writer and director is Marcus Perry and this is probably his most known work. It is from 2006, so it had its 10th anniversary last year. Lead actress is the somewhat famous Cassidy Freeman and another name that may strike familiar to some is (now deceased) child actress Skye McCole Bartusiak, who plays probably the biggest supporting character. Thiks film is 100% action. Occasional throw-ins of drama and comedy, maybe even emotion, aren't working out at all. The plot and story did extremely little for me as the film is so blatantly over the top with regards to almost everything: special effects, line delivery and the impact it unsuccessfully is trying to make. The ending makes it look a bit as if they considered making a sequel or even a show based on these characters, but eventually I am not sad at all it did not work out because it was a very forgettable watch. Only recommended to those who occasionally enjoy pointless action movies and big explosions with little story. I myself am not surprised that Perry did not break through beyond short films in the last decade. Thumbs down from me for this one.
