Junk, even by Troma's low standards
2 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
As a Troma film, BLOOD ORGY AT BEAVER lake sounds like it will be a lot of fun: an eclectic mix of sex and violence, packed within a monster-mash whole and filled of the usual horror film tropes and stand-bys. The tale is about a bad batch of moonshine that turns drinkers into flesh-munching cannibals who subsequently attack a bunch of partying teens. Sounds good, right? Actually, no. You'd be dead wrong if you thought that.

This is amateur night stuff at best, a far cry even from 1990s-era Troma movies like TERROR FIRMER. The early axe murders in the laboratory with the plastic foot give a good idea of just how cheap and inept this film will be. Elements include random nudity; a Benny Hill-style segment of bikini girls running about; Lloyd Kaufman cameoing as a news anchor; lots of bad taste gags; a gross-out climax involving melting faces; plus the most rubbish-looking gunshot wounds ever, in which the effects have simply been overlaid on a piece of glass on top of the film. The whole film is mere junk.
