Samba Traoré (1992)
Lovely but not as compelling as Yaaba

I am a fan of Director Idrissa Ouedraogo so I was excited to check another film in his filmography. This film is about a man who tries to build a prosperous life back in his village after, according to him, working at a banana plantation in town. As the film progresses, we see that lie show cracks, but at the same time we root for him, his best friend and his wife, and Saratou to be able to live peaceful lives. The relationships are beautiful to watch, they're warm and sometimes funny and the best parts of the movie. As with Yaaba, the film doesn't end happily, but with this movie, I wanted more from it.
