Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is a very pointless and boring game. You can either play the story mode, or just drive (or fly) around and shoot random people on the street. The main character is called CJ. CJ is not a very likable character. He's just a gang banger A loser.
If you choose to play in story mode, you'll open up more of San Andreas. But you have to commit criminal acts to do so. In the free play mode, you can murder innocent people and police men, buy hookers and visit strip clubs. You can use your fists, a gun, rocket launcher, chainsaw, katana and even a dildo as a weapon. Like I said, pointless and boring. The whole game has a sarcastic and obnoxious tone, from the main characters to the hosts on the radio.
When you're driving, the controls are pretty good. It's worse when you're outside of the car. Sometimes, it's hard to make CJ do what you want him to, which makes the shooting and fighting frustrating. For a Playstation 2 game, the graphics are pretty bad, and the characters are stiff and look like mannequins.
And isn't it sad that one of the few black main characters in a popular video game is a violent criminal? Imagine if the people behind GTA made an open-world video game where the black main character was the hero instead. And instead of violent, criminal acts, you had to save people from burning buildings/drowning, capture gang members without killing anyone etc.
I don't believe that playing violent video games will turn normal people into killers (though there's some evidence that violent video games could make children aggressive), but that's not the point anyway. The problem is that games like this are devoid of any moral value. What's the point in making ugly games that glorify immoral behavior? Why can't they do the opposite?
I read a review once, where the writer said that most rap music keeps black people on the cotton plantation, and the same is true with video games like GTA: San Andreas. And not just black people, it keeps us all down. It's just primitive garbage...
Play good games instead, like Donkey Kong Country 1-3, Super Mario World or Spider- Man (Playstation).
