As other reviewers have written, this show is not for everyone. It relies heavily on characterization for humor, though the writing manages to wring jokes out of rather ordinary occurrences.
Louie Anderson plays Mrs. Baskets very effectively. I find myself recognizing people I have known in his portrayal of the quirky woman. There is plenty of humor to be found in someone merely portraying a character with absolute commitment.
Another standout is Martha (Martha Kelly), who quietly does her best to cope with the odd situations in which she is placed.
Zach Galifianakis is Chip Baskets, whose life ambition is to become a clown in the European tradition. It's a funny premise that becomes poignantly funny as he suffers for his (desired) art.
