I thought Reg Varney was really outstanding as a middle aged drag queen. He really put on a good show in the film despite being a underrated British actor. I never heard of him before until this movie aired just a few days ago and boy, it got me really interested!
I have to say though I really didn't know this type of drag queen film existed in the early 1970s. I know that was the time drag queen Divine came on the scene and amazed us with such confidence. Very same as Varney's character on this but he wasn't as extreme as Divine haha.
What was really scary about the film though, I thought those two blokes that always came to Varney's characters show were actually going to beat the living daylights outta him in the end. Instead they threw in the pool but I really thought he was gonna die either way and thankfully he didn't! Really thought the actors in this were good and I would've given this some sort of award but I wouldn't give it an Oscar type as it doesn't seem to fit into that category for me somehow. Good film, 8/10!
