Sharp, stylish, and fun- a fresh breeze to Turkish Cinema "Olumlu Dunya" is Tarantino-Alaturca

If you live and breathe sarcasm, this is your movie.

Olumlu Dunya - "Mortal Life" is a movie about unusual characters gathered in somewhat unusual family that runs an ordinary Turkish diner, which sets the stage for a perfect situation-comedy.

Director and co-writer Ali Atay is know as Turkish Pioneer in comedy, he continues to deliver what he is known for while setting new horiozons for Turkish Cinema. He and his team write funny and irreverent dialogues and have a very in-your-face directing style that fits right in with the tone of the movie. The pace of the movie is constantly in overdrive, meaning that the viewer is always engaged.

If you take the wit and color, and combine it with the excessive violence and healty dose of sarcasm you end up with Mortal Life. I felt like watching a Tarantino-Alaturca. That's pretty high praise, and this is what the movie deserves.

When the credits roll, you haven't learned very much about the world or yourself, but you had a good time. Mortal Life is a light but out of ordinary movie, and a fun one without trying. If that's what you want, this is a movie for you.
