This short story is everything. It highlights such an important and motivational theme, following a young deaf girl who feels lost in a family of hearing individuals. My favourite part of the movie is when we are cleverly put in the position of 'Libby' played by the most talented child actor I have seen in any film (let alone short film) - Maisie Sly. We, in the position of Libby, hear nothing at all but see everyone at the table around us talking and communicating freely. I can imagine for any deaf person this must feel so isolated and lonely. The message that this family and any family of a deaf child/relation should have learnt sign language in order to stop this from happening. It would be amazing if BSL was compulsory curriculum at UK schools in order to educate people towards the deaf community, and I feel that this beautiful film - directed by Chris Overton and written by Rachel Shenton, definitely brings the message across that being deaf does not make you abnormal, and you shouldn't be made to feel alone. I can't wait to see what is next from this team and this film!
