An overdose of comedy
16 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
THE RETURN OF HALLELUJA is one of those spaghetti westerns whose great emphasis is on humour over action or plotting. The story is faintly ridiculous and sees the titular hero employed to retrieve a priceless Aztec idol for a Mexican revolutionary who needs the power possession of such an object will bring. Unfortunately for Halleluja, a bunch of other sinister characters also want to get their hands on the treasure, so the hunt is on. This is one of many disappointing genre productions for George Hilton and for the most part it plays out as a lame comedy. There are talking parrots, silly slapstick, and all manner of goofy characters doing dumb things. It doesn't really hold together as a proper movie at all.
