Dull husbands, lovers, sex and visual disinterest
9 May 2018
Husbands And Lovers becomes one of those grueling watches, that tests the viewers patience, with long tedious scenes of nothingness, but sex and nudity and not much worth, which becomes a sort of rude revelation here, if judging solely by the enticing cover, the most memorable scene, one of Sands's film collegues assessing a 12 year old girl's beauty and how "men would look at her, and masturbate over her", his exact words. The story leaves nothing to be desired now, but back in 91, did. The film involves Sands as a scriptwriter, who's beautiful wife, the talented Pacula (who has always been made for better roles, in her career) has an open agreement, to take a lover on weekends (not many men would be that accepting) Sands's jealously over her current one, incites an sexual excitement inside her, only this 91 minute straining watch of a movie, isn't sexy or exciting, and doesn't feature the most original instrumental themes either. A dull movie throughout, that wastes the talents of it's leads, especially the hot Pacula, who again starred with Sands the second Warlock installment. Prove me wrong.
