SOUTH BEACH is one of those action vehicles directed by and starring Fred Williamson as a hard-boiled cop on the trail of nasty criminals. This one's set in Florida and features Williamson on the track of a criminal gang who kidnap his wife. Most of the running time seems padded out with goofy scenes involving Williamson hanging out with Gary Busey, who is on top crazy form as his old buddy. The two play golf and brawl occasionally in amusing moments. There are fights and shoot-outs with minor bad guys and appearances from an unrecognisably slick Peter Fonda alongside Henry Silva as another heavy. It's cheap and cheerful; hardly great, but passes the time amiably enough.
