Snow Beast (2011)

Warning: Spoilers
Near the end of October 2017 I picked up a box set with a trio of Syi-Fi Channel Creature Features/Monster movie flicks, and was surprised to find Swamp Shark pretty fun. Holding the other 2 in the set back for viewing the next October,I got set to get snowed in.

View on the film:

Backed by an ill-fittingly jaunty score by Michael Shumway, director Brian Brough & cinematographer Ephraim Smith at first give the creature some teeth by only offering brief glimpses of the monster darting past the camera and blurred first person shots, before tearing the next victims face off. Shoving this restrain aside far too early, Shumway reveals the Snow Beast with close-ups on the horribly cheap looking rubber mask. Later working on non-Horror flicks with Brough, the script by Brittany Wiscombe spends most of the time not building up fear of the beast, but following a sickly twee family trying to bond. Taking on the beast, John Schneider gives the flick a much-needed chunk of gruff, as he grumbles on being snowed in with the Snow Beast.
