Warning: Spoilers
ONCE A GANGSTER is a pitifully bad Hong Kong comedy based around a gang of Triads jockeying for the position of the next leader. A restaurant owner, played by the wooden Jordan Chan, looks to be up to the job, but things are complicated by the arrival of rival Ekin Cheng. This is one of those comedies that doesn't translate at all for anybody living outside of the region. It's overlong and completely pointless, with appalling direction throughout, overacting and unfunny attempts at humour. The kind of film that it's barely possible to sit through, let alone enjoy.
