Ninja Scroll intertwines a very compelling high action, violent story (which includes love), with absolutely magnificently detailed visual pictures. If you have never seen anime or have no interest, I will bet you will enjoy this!
Yoshiaki Kawajiri has many many great movies and they all have the same high quality art that Ninja Scroll is comprised of.
Psychedelics go very well with this movie! The part that kills me is that the Japanese audio is only 2 channel. This makes the movie feel authentic when the characters speak, but during the action scenes it feels less immersive than the English 5.1 audio tracks. Such a trade-off, but I feel the English audio ruins the experience entirely.
