Great Movie, Unrealistic Battles
21 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
As others have said, this movie has a great script, great photography, and great directing.

It follows a group of men from recruitment, training, and then to battle in Afghanistan.

I really enjoyed it, except that the battle scenes were unrealistic. Especially the final battle which showed waves of Afghan fighters attacking the Russians in the style of Zulus, standing up and massed, walking into the gun fire.

Even though the Russians were firing Ak47's and heavy calibre (anti aircraft guns) machine guns, no body seemed to be getting hit! Were the Russians firing blanks?

Maybe the Director should have moved this battle scene to night time, which would have made it much more dramatic, and harder for the viewer to see that no one was falling down or being cut in two?

Apart from the unrealistic battle, the rest of the film far outweighs this negative, and is well worth a watch.
