In this gory, horror movie, a group of high schoolers find themselves in possession of an ancient clay statue that looks like a Mexican salt shaker but houses the Aztec god Destactyl, who has the powers to take people over. It's a bit slow in parts and is nothing original, but it has a good score by Chris Young, and some decent squishy FX sequences which include an impalement on a flagpole, a grave stone squashing a head, and a guy who melts at the end. The movie had a limited theatrical release but became a bit of a cult favourite on home video. Co-directed by Stephen Carpenter and Jeffrey Obrow who also did Bram Stoker's Legend of the Mummy; The Servants of Twilight; The Kindred and The Dorm That Dripped Blood.
