Review of North Face

North Face (2008)
7/10
An impressive mountaineering film.

Warning: Spoilers
Another spine-chilling account of brave mountaineers losing their fight against Nature! The screenplay has taken liberties(the melodrama surrounding Ms. Luise, the incorrect positions of the team members when they perish etc.) and at places, one can figure out the computerized imagery e.g: The cliffs which the team looks down for descending after the traverse failure, where Andi is shown plummeting and so on, yet, the viewer is left rattled at the technical failures and the dark side of the Nature. The movie reinstates the fact that hardcore mountaineers are somewhat 'insane' but that's what makes them who they are ! The background score is unimpressive. Benno Fürmann as Toni prevails in the memory as a leader, the others have played their roles well. Highly recommended if you can ignore the absurd backdrop.
