Mean-spirited, snide, relying on conflicts that would never occur in real life. You know nothing of the central character (Martha, Diane Keaton), who apparently has lived her whole life without making a single human contact. One other woman does nothing but smile witlessly the entire movie. Above all, the plot turns on dumb supervisors, dumb husbands, dumb sons, cardboard villains who express opposition in a manner that was probably not even done in the 50's. I was expecting a comedy about self-overcoming, older women realizing despite the passing of years that they still have potential, can even be sexy. There was none of that. Add to that the fact that there were next to jokes, and you have one of the dullest, most pointless wastes of 90 minutes you will ever see.
