This type of movies were more popular in the 80's and 90's. Most recently though the formula has made a come back with Stranger Things and the It remake. Even though this is categorized as horror, there is very little horror about it. I was surprised how well the actors did their part and how fun the movie is despite having limitations. Movies like this aren't highly marketable but that does not make them any less enjoyable.
