Uneventful: Lacked Intended Charm

(Flash Review)

I was hoping for a bit more substance about a movie about the famous painter and sculptor Alberto Gioacometti. Not just the internal struggle of his creative process; a few scenes sure but this got old fast. The film's focus is Gioacometti's process of painting a portrait of a handsome gent who is also an art critic which becomes more frustrating for the poser than Gioacometti himself. Sprinkled in are brief and shallow insights into Gioacometti world. Too thin to structure the film on. Much of his work is in contrast to the other art of the time; that would be neat to expound upon a bit. His work consists of harsh lights, darks, that are rough and devoid of color and happiness. Much like his personality. The acting was really good but overall, I had hoped to learn more about this intriguing artist.
