The humans (except for Buster Crabbe) are incidental in this combination Tarzan (sexy Crabbe strutting around in his loincloth - "what a body!", to quote a woman in the film) and disaster film (the climax includes a circus fire, wild animals on the loose in the city, and an elephant stampede). The animal performances are also more impressive than the humans' - the highlights are a bull vs. lion and a tiger vs. lion fight. Best pre-code line: "what do you do with a man like that?" - "I wonder....". ** out of 4.
