Another interesting film entirely absent (along with its director) from 'From Caligari to Hitler' is this vivid slice of life which employs a melodramatic but well contrived plot about a violinist newly released into 1933 Berlin after serving five years for throttling his former employer, which provides the framework for a tour of the city during the brief quiet before the stormtroopers.
