Review of Ticker

Ticker (2001)
5/10
HAS SOME GOOD BITS BUT NOTHING GREAT
1 August 2019
This little B-movie Low budget Thriller made by legendary low-budget genre director Albert Pyun, is actually a not too bad Thriller with a good cast!!!

In TICKER we have a good rugged & tough performance from Tom Sizemore who looks like a more rugged & grizzled George clooney & i couldn't help but think Sizemore would've made an excellent Seth Gecko in From Dusk Till Dawn (1996). Sizemore is a san Francisco cop in a panic trying to find a psycho bomber planting bombs all over the city, that evil bomber is the legendary Dennis Hopper who is also great in his role as an ira terrorist. A very good performance from a veteran actor.

I even have to say that Steven Seagal is even ok in Ticker as bomb squad leader Glass, he actually gives a solid performance & doesn't come accross corny!!! Here it feels like seagal is actually trying to act instead of just fighting & he's a good character who becomes a sort of voice of reason & mentor to Sizemore's troubled cop. Steven seagal is actually really good & usually he's terrible & can't act at all but in Ticker he's very good & it's way back in 2001 so it was when he still made so good films & hadn't gotten really big & fat yet. Peter Green (Pulp fiction,Judgment night) is here as a mouthy detective who seems to have Nettles (Sizemore) & he brings intensity to his role.

Even rap legend Nas has a bit part as cop partner to Sizemore's Nettle & we get a little cameo from Albert Pyun regular Ice T.

Ticker is a low-budget B-movie Thriller but it's entertaining & well made for what it is, with a solid cast & some good action. Albert Pyun is a legend in the B-movie genre world with cult Classic's such as Cyborg (1989) with van damme, Nemesis (1992) & Mean Guns (1997) & many many more great B-movie Genre films. I love that director.
