Another splendid performance from Geoffrey Rush -

My Review - The Final Portrait Rate : 7/10 I missed this delightful movie on its Cinema release,. Did it get a Cinema release ? I wondered if it had been delayed due to Geoffrey Rush's legal proceedings? Geoffrey Rush plays famous Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti and it's one of his finest performances since The Best Offer. This film is set in 1964 and based on a novel by James Lord "A Giacometti Portrait " Screenplay is written by Stanley Tucci who also directed this film.

Armie Hammer's character James Lord sits for the artist who is painting his portrait and he also narrates the movie , which takes place over 18 days of frustration. The temperamental eccentric Giacometti keeps changing the portrait and James keeps having to change his flight to New York . Clemence Poesy is delightful as Caroline the call girl and current object of Giacometti's affection . I also thought Tony Shalhoub as Giacometti's calm patient brother was impressive as well as Sylvie Testud as Annette , the artists long suffering wife.

This movie is really worth a look it's not a great classic but it's entertaining and interesting I enjoyed it much more than Geoffrey Rush's last movie Storm Boy.
