Want to watch a movie where a rock singer takes a lot of drugs, drinks, sings, and self-destructs? Then this is for you! Midler yells ALL THE TIME, in-between booze and songs of course. She's totally unlikeable but at the same time the manager is even worse so what you get is a person train wrecking and no one caring or trying to stop her, That said, it was well made and Midler gives it her all, there was just no humanity behind her character apart from being a sad, depressed drunk.
