The first series was very 'teen horror' and had some really annoying actors in it (step forward Will Young particularly..) and whilst watchable, wasn't anything special.
Cue huge cast changes for series 2, and witness a massive step up in terms of quality, the difference is chalk and cheese.
So a solid 8 on the basis of series 2 alone.
