Warning: Spoilers
They almost got it right. Till almost the end it is emotional well told story beautifully shot with real a real nice score. The acting is alright, even though Thomas Hildreth let's just stay could have reached a little deeper. All well and good until you get a few lines of the mother about how only god can forgive you that send a terrible message. People can believe in whatever religion they want but this mother wanted to kill her child and watched while it happened then told nobody even when she was not a drug addict anymore until she got caught. If god forgives you is that is between you and your god. But it is also giving up your responsibility. You need to own up for what you did, confess to the police, endure your sentence and than people can at some point forgive you and most importantly only you can forgive yourself. This movie gets dragged down by the wrong message it sends which has nothing to do what religion is or should be.
