5/10
The action so far has been disappointing. The emotional story is gripping.

Hidden under layers of Dog and crew chasing after small time criminals is the touching story of Beth Chapman and her unfortunate passing at an early age. Dog seems rusty and old. There is very little new for the bounty hunting portion of the program other than Dog and crew have really lost a step. Even former superstar Leland seems much older, bloated, and out of practice. While still entertaining in a blast from the past sort of way, the bounty hunting smacks of a cash grab. Heck, Dog even admits as much when talking to Beth about how expensive cancer is in one of the first episodes. The story of Beth and her battle against cancer and death is the compelling portion of the program. In typical Beth style, she is straightforward and blunt about her condition. It is sad, gut wrenching, and heartbreaking to watch. They share just about all details, so how the rest of the season on the Beth storyline has me tuning in every week. If this show was just the bounty hunting then I would be out. The hunts just have not been overly interesting. Some other aspects about the hunts that have been bothersome: The first episode state that their daughter has 15 years bounty hunting experience and she is maybe 25 years old. Obviously, they are stretching the truth. They say the grandson (Leland's son has 5 years experience). Then, in one of the first episodes when the grandson gets thrown from a moving car and the daughter fails to block the car in properly, Beth talks about their rookie mistakes. Huh?? Dog's deputy "David" and his wife appear so utterly ineffective through these first episodes that I wonder if they truly are experienced bounty hunters. Dog, Beth, and the crew have really seem to have ramped up the curse words this series. I don't remember them swearing as much before. On numerous occasions, Dog and Beth have thrown it out there that the criminal on the run is wrong for making Beth get out there and bounty hunt. On the other hand, they speak many times of how bounty hunting will be helpful to Beth. Beth even states she will, "die in her boots" as the preferred method. So, which is it? Dog seems overly reliant on flying a drone and trying to get the fugitive with knowledge obtained from drone footage. Overall, an uneven and lopsided effort that is still worthy of your time and attention.
