Julie Andrews and Ann-Margret get a different set of roles in AIDS-themed "Our Sons". Apart from the topic of AIDS, an obvious focus is homophobia, with Ann-Margret's character convinced that her son got what he deserved for being gay (and referring to him as "one of them"). The other topic is the more subtle type of homophobia, with Andrews's character trying to come to terms with her son's sexual orientation.

Overall, the movie was a good step - along with "Philadelphia" - in de-stigmatizing AIDS victims. I understand that there are now more people living with AIDS than ever before, since the cocktail keeps them alive even while infected. In the meantime, definitely watch this movie if you get a chance (it's available online).

Robert Greenwald (the producer) had previously directed the musicals "Xanadu" and "Can't Stop the Music" but later directed the Abbie Hoffman biopic "Steal This Movie!" and went on to direct a series of documentaries critical of Wal-Mart, Fox News, and US foreign policy.
