APPOINTMENT WITH DANGER is a late-stage film noir with a central performance from the diminutive Alan Ladd (and yes, he does wear a big hat to make up for it). The plot has a certain freshness about it and involves an initial murder witnessed by a nun. Ladd goes on the hunt for the criminal gang responsible and finds them working within the local postal service, of all things. A lot of the suspense comes from him going undercover to join the gang, and the will-he-be-found-out situations that arise. I found the nun scenes extraneous and thus dragging down certain areas that needed tighter pacing, but generally this is watchable enough.
