This series had adequate directing and acting with occasional flashes of better than average. The only exceptionally bad aspect was the stiff overacting of Fox (Mr. Brownlow) However, the story of Oliver Twist is undoubtedly enthralling, and this version even with all its shortcomings is still the best on-screen rendition of Dickens' classic that I have seen so far.
