A thrilling crime story with a historical background
7 November 2019
Ancient tensions between the clashing cultures of England and Ireland are revived when a shipment of cocaine goes missing. This film is full of suspense as an English drug smuggler is tormented by his equally corrupt Irish captors. It's all about the money, but the brilliant screenplay brings out depths of cultural resentment. The camera-work is good, using the setting to emphasise the emotions of the characters. The story is told using dark humour with some laugh-out-loud moments. 'The Cocaine Famine' is a thoroughly good watch.
