I try figure out how this marvelous picture was so underrated by the viewers, I didn't found a proper answer yet, maybe the subject, the picture starts talking about the Gypsies as ethnicity at Spain, a people without country, Carmen (Rita Hayworth) was one of them, a stunning attractiveness as sexy wild cat, with a bad behavior, filthy words are easily spoken by her, Carmen meets a newcomer the Corporal Don José Lizarabengoa, soon he falling in love for shapely gypsy girl, however he realizes that he wasn't the unique suitor whose she'd already bewitched, at Carmen's room he has a fight with his Colonel, end up killing him, they running away to mountains nearby the roads, finally Lizarabengoa finds out that Carmen is already married with the Boss's thieves Garcia, Glenn and Rita had made Gilda couple years before and after Carmen made "Affair in Trinidad" a fine partnership, as romantic couple, the picture has many highlight as the famous Gypsy dance, also a dark scenes at mountains and cave, the scorned soldier was distraughtly allured by Carmen, the gypsy's gang have colorful characters, treacherous, instigators and mainly unfaithful, a tragic ending is fantastic, strangely underrated!!!
