Ernie or Logan?

Warning: Spoilers
You would think that finding $800,000 in a buried jeep that's been buried for 20 years means guilt free money right? You would think.

Border Patrol Agent, Logan (Kris Kristofferson), found $800,000 buried in the Del Amo, Texas desert along with a jeep and a corpse. He could've taken the money and retired. Instead, he told his partner Ernie (Treat Williams) about the find because that's the kind of guy he was. Little did he know, Ernie had a bit of a conscience and had some misgivings about taking the money. Ernie wanted to know that the money was totally untraceable and that no one was being harmed.

Who are you? Ernie or Logan?

I think I'm Ernie simply out of fear. I don't want to be looking over my shoulder the rest of my life. Money that's been missing for 20 years sounds like a slam dunk, but you know how the old saying goes: "If it sounds too good to be true..."

Their slow-footing allowed the matter to get out of their hands. Before they knew it the FBI was on the scene with army men digging around the area where the jeep was buried. No way were this many men and resources being used to find $800,000. So what was it?

That's the mystery that needed solving. It turns out that they were looking for the rifle that was used to kill JFK.

It's fair game right? I mean, no one knows who really killed JFK and why. Yeah, yeah, I know there was a long drawn out investigation by a special senate commission that found no conspiracy, but since when do you believe everything Washington says? "Flashpoint" is just feeding into the conspiracy theories even if it doesn't offer a who and a why. It does offer the fact that the government was involved.

I liked this plot for all the reasons I just mentioned. I think it is completely OK to offer up alternative theories. I didn't like Kris Kristofferson. His character was OK, but he was like a droid just following whatever programming he was given. His performance was awful. The supposed anger he had when he thought Ernie was killed in the plane crash was deplorable. He had all the emotion of someone who just found out he's out of milk.

Kristofferson's performance aside, the movie was solid. It was a bit heavy-handed with the government conspiracy men-in-black stuff, but they aren't the only ones guilty of that.
