The Witcher (2019– )
3/10
I wanted to like this, I really did.

I really wanted to like this. I love Henry Cavill and, short of his cleft chin, he is the spitting image of Geralt. I also loved the video game adaptation, easily in my top three games of all time. So I was looking forward to this adaptation. But it is so bad. The first episode was worrying, the very first scene involved a dodgy CGI battle that was actually worse looking than the video game but bad CGI isn't enough to scare me off. But then came the talking.and then there was more talking and then came some talking. I suggest Save the Cat for the screenwriters... show don't tell guys. But let's get to the crux of the problem, the game was beautiful, legitimately beautiful, a work of love by Team Projekt Red. The movie isn't. Sure Henry Cavill is as beautiful as he always is but that's it. I got as far a Triss Merigold and switched off. Obviously Netflix haven't paid attention to the failure of Mass Effect 4, if you want to disrespect your core audience that much, don't expect them to support you.
