Review of The Grudge

The Grudge (2019)
1/10
What the hell have I just watched?

Warning: Spoilers
Well that was a huge disappointment. The Grudge 2020 remake is about as scary as watching an episode of the Teletubbies. The jump scares are non existent, the story has been taken from the original Ju'On films, tossed in a blender and the resulting sludge has been smeared onto a tape and released for the public to sit and endure painfully. If anyone is thinking of going to see this film, don't. You will get more of a thrill from trying to narrowly miss slicing your finger on a chopping board or purposefully slamming a staple into your leg.

I know basing this review from my experiences with the original isn't really a fair way to go but, the original films (and the 2004 remake) gave tension for the curse by basing around a creepy pale child and his cat being the harbingers of the curse which is acted out through his mother both of whom were killed by the violent rage induced husband.

This film however gives us a slightly damp six year old Melanie Landers, who has a nosebleed and vomits water, a pointless stalking father Sam Landers, who's best scene was when he died from a blow to the head by his possessed wife, and the victim and cause of the grudge Fiona Landers.

The gore and overall scares were over in a matter of seconds. The trailer overhauled this film which lately has been the trouble with alot of the latest releases.

Don't watch this film
