Somewhat stodgy

Warning: Spoilers
POOL OF LONDON is a stodgy social drama with crime touches from 1950's Britain, interesting mainly thanks to the working class dockside backdrop and an interesting supporting character in the form of Bermudan star Earl Cameron, who as I write is still with us at the glorious age of 102! He's a darn sight more interesting than the nominal hero of the piece, a wooden Bonar Colleano, who becomes involved in some small scale criminality. A hard-hitting climax does little for a film which overall is slowly paced and generally unfocused.
