There were laughs, but..

Warning: Spoilers
For the first half of the movie, I really did enjoy it. Jack Nicholson is great at pulling off this type of character - opinionated, straight to the point, obnoxious, and a good laugh; you always get a love/hate feeling towards him.

One of the issues I did have, is similar to other reviews; the characters didn't mesh well. They didn't seem to really be in tune with their roles (aside from Nicholson), it was hard to miss. Some of the scenes of this movie, seemed to be randomly thrown in; made it all quite jumbled in the second half of the movie.

The main review I have though, is how harsh Helen Hunt's character was toward Jack Nicholson. I understand that at the start, he needed someone to stand up to his behaviour. But when she realises he means no ill will toward her, you would think she'd at least try to understand why he is that way. She is quite self absorbed, takes everything very personally, and even threatens to leave because he couldn't walk on the brick path. Personally, I think that's sad. She's indirectly saying "I can't be with you if you're going to be you". I don't think that's the right way to portray love.

OCD is an overwhelming condition, anyone with it would find this difficult to watch
