The postal inspectors are the nation's oldest police force. This is one of their stories. In Gary, Indiana, an inspector is murdered by two thugs (Harry Morgan), They transport the body to La Porte where they encounter a nun, Sister Augustine. The body is left in an alley and the sister is the only witness. Al Goddard (Alan Ladd) is the relentless postal inspector investigating the case.
The sassy nun is a great new addition to a rather standard police procedural. The contrasting personality blend is quite interesting and sometimes fun. This movie is best when the nun gets to bounce off the cops. It's too bad that she doesn't stay in the whole movie. The police procedural is fine but nothing new. This would be better as the sassy nun movie. She has the best lines. "With a little practice, you could be a nice man."
