This is by far my favorite Hallmark Christmas movie. It doesn't have any of the sappy scenes that pretty much every other Hallmark Christmas movie has: No christmas tree shopping, no making cookies, no ice skating, no meddling parents (other than a short phone call at the very beginning), no children. With the haunting/enchanting music, and the TOTALLY original storyline, it's the perfect non-Hallmark movie, which makes it that much better!
I think a lot of the criticism of Harold comes from how people view the movie differently. If you think of Dave and Corrine as the main (and perhaps only) story, then Harold could be seen as an annoyance. But if you think of Harold's story as the main story (as I did), then it gives you a whole different perspective, one in which Harold is viewed entirely differently.
