Review of Wild Rose

Wild Rose (2018)
6/10
An authentic Country album
3 January 2021
Our troubled lead is captured in a sea of moody waves. The main character is perfectly drawn as a wild singer who rings with herself. The ups and downs of her life switch places way too often. Especially the scene where she is handed the opportunity to chase her dreams after a rollercoaster ride to find herself at the starting point again seemed weary. Like a combination of all episodes from "Californication" the pattern of rising and diminishing hopes wear off. Other than that the acting is emotional and even the kids are acting surprisingly good; more than convincing. The soundtrack is superb and it is no coincidence that Jessey took the stages by storm after the movie was so well received. Reminds me of the good old "Spinal Tap" story. Anyway the story with all its lovely details about passion and human flaws make a great authentic Country album that this movie is. And it is set in Glasgow.
