I acknowledge that any TV series based on the written source shouldn't follow it in everything. Especially since this TV series is aimed at the viewer from another country and of another time and context. Most exaggerations are excessive and unnecessary and could be avoided through the brilliant idea of bringing together young and older protagonists. However, instead of the deep conceptualization of the original story, I saw a bunch of cheesy jokes. Maybe, my personal rating is unobjectively low, but it really conveys my (unexpected) frustration. Maybe, watching this TV series wouldn't have been so painful in case I haven't done this right after reading the original book, which I recommend to look at instead of the TV series or afterward.
