Excellent Family Movie
25 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If someone is looking for a movie that the entire family can watch without adults being bored to death, look no further then Undercover Angel. It is about Harrison ( Dean Winters), a failed mystery writer who cannot get anything published. A former girlfriend of his Melissa ( Lorraine Ansell) asks him to babysit her daughter Jenny ( Emily Mae Young). Spoilers ahead:. He really does not want to, but he needs the money so he agrees. In order to keep her occupied, he tells her stories about her favorite toy Mr. Dodo. There is some romance in the movie courtesy of Holly Anderson ( the always beautiful Yasmine Bleeth), who is also a data transcriber. Harrison really likes Holly but cannot get her interested until along comes Jenny. What Jenny also does is record Harrison's stories and has Holly transcribe them and she mails them ( along with Mr. Dodo) to a publisher who loves them and pays Harrison for the stories. Later on, Harrison has to get Jenny's birth certificate, because she needs a passport to go to her mom in Canada. What he finds out is Jenny is actually his daughter, and Melissa never told him because "He was irresponsible." The problem with Melissa is she is a power hungry lawyer who puts her career ahead of everything ( including Jenny). Because of the sales of Mr. Dodo Harrison becomes wealthy and wants custody of Jenny because he feels ( rightly so) he and Holly ( who became a couple) can do a better job raising her. Jenny also prefers her dad, but Melissa wins in court. Spoilers Ahead: Later on Harrison is on TV and explaining how Jenny inspired him to write Mr. Dodo and he owes everything to her. Jenny is watching him in TV, and Melissa gets angry and says she hates Mr. Dodo and slaps Jenny, which upsets her. She finally realizes that Harrison is right, and returns her to him, She finally figured out, that Jenny is much better off with him, because as she said "She needs a stable home and I am not stable" and "You are the best father in the world" and basically he puts her first, while she puts her career first. In the final scene you see kids and parents lined up for blocks waiting to buy autographed copies of the new Mr. Dodo book "Mr. Dodo meets Jenny" Harrison is there signing autographs , Jenny and Holly and are there with him. What really works is the character growth in Harrison, how he goes from a nobody and having nothing to being successful and having Jenny and Holly, but at the same time, never forgetting that Jenny is responsible for all of it. That is the point behind including Jenny in the latest book. Melissa too experienced character growth. She finally decided to do the right thing for her daughter and gave her to Harrison where she will not only be happier, but Harrison along with Holly (they will be getting married ( you see the engagement ring on her finger)) have the time and love needed to properly raise a child, something Melissa does not have. Again an excellent movie 10/10 stars.
