The Passage of Youth

A fantastic film that draws you in from the first frame. The story centres on the last few days of high school and the dilemmas that the protagonists face in regards to the rest of their lives. The acting is on point with the two main characters Kai (Joshua Glenister) and Grace (Kim Spearman) giving outstanding nuanced performances. The cinematography creates a dream like feel and the locations range from gritty (the library roof) to tranquil (the lake in the forest). It has some light hearted moments mainly provided by Kai's two best friends, but these are shown with a naive youthful innocence rather than stereotyped teenage crudeness. The film has to be appreciated with the vain that it was made. It is a low budget British Independent film that looks so much more than that. Don't expect a lot of cliched moments or Hollywood glamour. This is a film that almost every British teenager should be able to relate to, the last days of innocence before the realities of the real world.
