I like The Physician - it is in my opinion simply a colorful adventure story with a great production. As the movie is not a documentary nor there is a claim to tell a true story, I disagree with those reviews that bash the movie for its historical mistakes. I do not watch an adventure movie if I am interested to learn something about a certain matter. And there are not only many historical "mistakes" regarding the Middle East culture but of those in Europe too.
Noah Gordon, the writer of the book on which the movie is based, wrote in the epilogue of The Physician, that his novel largely describes a medieval fantasy world rather than the historically accurate real world of the 11th century. Anyway, fun to watch if you like historical adventure movies.
