Uplifting and heart-warming

Great acting, realistic storyline and beautiful photography in Australian countryside. I enjoyed every minute of this movie and was quite surprised at a fairly average rating. Thoroughly recommended. There is an element of feel-good scripting, but that's good for the soul from time to time. The movie also provides an insight into low security prison environment for both inmates and staff. The programme established for inmate rehabilitation certainly entitles the movie to be named "Healing". The actors in this film are outstanding and well established names in the Australian television and film industry. The filming of birds in flight and being handled was a bonus. Their beauty fully captured by close-up photography. The personal stories of the characters is both moving and emotionally charged. The close bonds that can develop between man and animals is clearly on display in this movie at the same time providing an explanation as to why this might not be good, ultimately for the animal or the handler. I personally would recommend this as family viewing (12 years and over). There is some colourful language used at times, but is limited, and nothing that wouldn't be heard in day to day banter.
